Kensington’s new range of Apple security products gives users peace of mind

20/11/2012

Kensington provides the highest standard of physical security solutions, protecting Apple devices and the valuable data they contain

SYDNEY – 20th November, 2012 – Kensington’s extensive new range of best-in-class Mac and iPad physical security products is aesthetically designed for Apple devices; so every product is as stylish as it is secure. With a range of solutions for iPad®, iMac®, MacBook® Air and MacBook® Pro, Kensington has the security needs of Apple users covered, providing an important first line of defence against device theft and loss.

Along with the enormous financial cost of device theft, and liabilities associated with the resulting loss of important business data, companies also risk significant damage to their reputation and severe regulatory consequences if sensitive customer data is lost. This is especially of concern in highly regulated industries such as healthcare or finance. One of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to guard against device and data loss is to use physical security, such as laptop locks and security cases.

A 2012 survey released by Australian Interactive Media Industry Association (AIMIA) shows that Apple is dominating the tablet market, with iPads representing 70 per cent of total tablets owned.  Currently, about 50 per cent of tablet users in the workplace use their own device, which is likely to increase as consumers continue to purchase tablet devices.

“As more and more Australian businesses adopt Apple computing products, it’s important they also adopt an essential first line of defence to protect both the devices and the data they contain,” said Sam Goldstein, Kensington manager – marketing and business development. “Kensington’s 30-year heritage in providing security products gives us a solid understanding of the need to carefully match the security accessory to the use and the design of the device. Whether people are using their Apple computers to primarily view content, create content or to display information, Kensington knows how to design physical security that works alongside them seamlessly.”

New Kensington Physical Security for iPad
Conceived to complement the iPad in every way, the SecureBack family of cases preserves the tablet’s celebrated, slim design. The cases feature a unique three-piece design, with a Kensington best-in-class ClickSafe locking system that secures the iPad in just one click, to prevent theft. Both cases are compatible with iPad 2, the new iPad and iPad with retina display. The inbuilt ClickSafe Anchor is located alongside the iPad’s 30-pin connector, offering simplified cable management for commercial spaces.

Folio SecureBack

Allowing you to secure your new iPad, to any immovable object, the Kensington Folio SecureBack also offers a stylish folio case to help you carry and protect it, preventing day-to-day wear and tear. Doubling as a two-position stand, the folio component makes iPad typing and browsing more comfortable and ergonomic than ever, and can be easily removed if required.

SecureBack with Vesa Mount

Kensington also introduces its new SecureBack VESA mountable iPad Security case, which turns an iPad into a commercial tool that can be locked down and safely left alone in public spaces such as shops, offices and showrooms. The security enclosure features a power button cover, as well as an optional home button cover, preventing unauthorised tampering or accidental shutdown in public spaces. The SecureBack VESA mountable iPad Security case is suitable for mounting on any desk, wall or floor bracket.

New Kensington Physical Security for iMac

A computer as sleek as the iMac® deserves a locking solution just as stylish. The sleek design of the SafeStand and SafeDome complements the existing aesthetics of the iMac without compromising on function and preserves all screen adjustments and swivel functions. Both solutions help clean up your desktop by managing your iMac accessories, and securing your mouse, keyboard and other peripherals.

SafeDome

The Kensington SafeDome features the revolutionary ClickSafe® lock that secures in just one click with Kensington’s ultra cable, providing a high level of security in public environments. The sleek, modern dome design securely attaches to the iMac stand, and it is easy to position and assemble the lock. For 21” or 27” iMacs.

SafeStand

Schools, libraries, kiosks and other public spaces require the ultimate in iMac security. The Kensington SafeStand Keyed Locking Station delivers with our most secure iMac locking solution. The SafeStand can be bolted directly to a desk or table, without the need to anchor it using a cable, and is secured to the iMac using Kensington’s patented ClickSafe locking solution. Available for 21” or 27" iMacs.

For the MacBook® Air, MacBook Pro, and Ultrabooks

SafeDock

The Kensington SafeDock™ MacBook® Air Security Dock & Keyed Lock allows you to secure your MacBook Air using the Kensington ClickSafe lock in just one easy click. While preserving access to all ports on the device, the SafeDock also allows you to tilt the keyboard for a more comfortable typing experience. Its thin and portable design fits easily into a laptop travel bag, while its brushed aluminum finish matches the aesthetics of the MacBook Air itself.

MicroSaver Ultrabook Laptop Lock

Ultrabook® and MacBook® laptops are valuable business tools, but they are frequently too thin for a standard cable lock and often lack a Kensington Security Slot, making them a perfect target for thieves. The Kensington Ultrabook Laptop Keyed Lock has an ultra-low profile, rotating head, and even a K-slot adapter for laptops without a security slot. The lock kit includes an attractive K-slot adapter that securely attaches to your Ultrabook. Simply attach it with the included ultra-strong adhesive, loop the cable around a fixed structure, lock, and your Ultrabook is secure.
