Kensington Cuts the Cord for 2003: StudioMouse and PocketMouse Pro Go Wireless

1/7/2003

Groundbreaking Innovation Continues with New Cordless Versions of Award-Winning StudioMouse and PocketMouse Pro

Kensington Technology Group, a leading provider of innovative solutions that improve the personal computer experience, kicked off a new year of innovation today by adding cordless functionality to two of its most popular lines of computer mice. StudioMouse Wireless™ and PocketMouse Pro Wireless™ give anyone the freedom to work without wires with a level of design and functionality that establish yet another new Kensington standard for computer input devices. Kensington introduced both products here at Macworld 2003.

Cutting the cord to the highly popular StudioMouse™, Kensington made the StudioMouse Wireless even more valuable as a tool for making work on a Mac® simpler, smarter, and much more stylish. The wireless RF connection allows the StudioMouse Wireless to work anywhere within six feet from your computer, and rechargeable batteries eliminate the expense of conventional batteries that need replacing.

As with the original StudioMouse, a key feature of the StudioMouse Wireless is the innovative Scroll Sensor, which replaces a scroll wheel with a multi-function, touch-sensitive technology. The Scroll Sensor enables users to move quickly up and down a project, scroll continuously to the start or finish of a document, or creep one line at a time - all with the touch of a finger and without moving parts that squeak or get stuck. Included with StudioMouse is the award-winning Kensington MouseWorks® software, which lets Mac users program the functions of three StudioMouse buttons, saving clicks and keystrokes, shortening tasks, and executing repetitive commands quickly.

PocketMouse Pro Wireless takes mobility and convenience to new levels with an all-in-one design that stores a wireless USB receiver inside a small compartment in the body of the mouse, eliminating not only a tangled cord, but also reducing the possibility of a lost receiver. PocketMouse Pro Wireless works up to three feet away from your laptop computer, and the rotating design of the USB receiver fits any USB port configuration. Also, power saving technology extends battery life by turning off the PocketMouse Pro Wireless when the receiver is stored.

Like the other devices in the award-winning PocketMouse line, the PocketMouse Pro Wireless has a conveniently small but comfortable size and shape, and features three programmable buttons and a scroll wheel, making it easy to move through long documents or Web pages.

Both PocketMouse Pro Wireless and StudioMouse Wireless are amazingly accurate, incorporating patented Kensington DiamondEye™ Optical Technology, which provides pinpoint accuracy and allows the mice to work on nearly any surface, ensuring that the cursor glides smoothly across the screen.

"StudioMouse Wireless and PocketMouse Pro Wireless are clear examples of our continuing commitment to a high-level of innovation that create new standards in our industry," said Don Angel, Director of Peripherals and Input Devices at Kensington. "More importantly, both of these devices show our understanding and ability to develop unique products that meet our customers' specific needs and requirements. Whether you're a creative Mac user or a hardcore road warrior, Kensington will make your work easier, simpler, and more enjoyable. We're looking forward to introducing many more great products through this new year."
